A Prince George resident is among the 13 boys and girls from across Canada whose suggestions made the grade in this year's RCMP Name the Puppy contest.

Ayden Delaney's submission Hero was the B.C. winner selected from the more than 21,000 entries from across Canada sent to the RCMP's Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alta.

As a result, Delaney will receive a certificate, an 810-inch laminated photo of the puppy named, a plush German Shepherd toy dog named Justice and an RCMP cap.

All names had to start with the letter H. For multiple entries of the same name, winners were selected at random.

Each of the winners represents one of the country's 10 provinces and three territories.
