LiveSmart remains in place

The LiveSmart B.C. energy efficiency incentive program will continue for another year thanks to the inclusion of $35 million in the 2010 provincial budget, energy mines and petroleum resources minister Blair Lekstrom said Friday.

The LiveSmart B.C. energy efficiency incentive program will continue for another year thanks to the inclusion of $35 million in the 2010 provincial budget, energy mines and petroleum resources minister Blair Lekstrom said Friday.

The program, which began in 2008, provides financial support to households for energy assessments and energy efficiency building retrofits. These incentives are being provided in partnership with provincial utility providers, Terasen Gas, BC Hydro, and FortisBC.

Program participants have saved an average of 31 per cent annually on energy and an average of More than 2.5 tonnes per year of greenhouse gas reductions by making their homes more energy efficient, according to the government.
