Coldsnap patrons will be watching the popular Prince George music festival from the comfort of their own homes this year.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage through the north and across B.C., organizers have decided to move the show to the digital world and will livestream the concerts for the community between Jan. 29 and Feb. 6, 2021.

Current provincial public health orders that prohibit organized public gatherings of any size, indoors or outdoors, up until Jan. 8.

The Prince George Folkfest Society issued a release this morning (Dec. 22), explaining it’ll continue to monitor any changes to the orders, but will continue to prioritize everyone’s safety, including artists, production crew, staff and volunteers.

"This has been a rough year for everyone and we are excited to bring the music that we love directly into our audience’s homes where everyone can feel a little safer,” says Artistic Director Sue Judge, who is also thanking first responders, medical personnel and front-line workers during these unprecedented times.

“Livestreaming is very new for us but we are excited to have a great team in Russell AV helping us create a wonderful experience!”

The nine-night event will be free to stream, the Folkfest Society explains.
