One person has been arrested in conjunction with a Tuesday night liquor store robbery.
According to the RCMP, a man entered the BX Pub store near Carney Street and Fifth Avenue around 9:15 p.m. wearing a mask and demanding cash.
A store employee co-operated and the suspect fled on foot, taking with him a small amount of cash, cigarettes and beer. The employee wasn't hurt and no weapons were seen.
"Through investigation, a suspect was identified," said an RCMP statement. The man was found around 4:30 p.m on Wednesday along the 2300 block of Victoria Street.
"Upon attempting to make the arrest, officers observed the suspect in possession of a large knife," said the RCMP statement.
The suspect ran off down an alley where a police service dog and handler were waiting and the man was arrested without further incident. The knife, a small quantity of heroin and small quantity of methamphetamine were seized.
Edward James Penner, 18, has been charged by provincial crown counsel with robbery, disguise with intent, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, resisting arresting, three counts of failure to comply with recognizance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Penner, who recently moved to Prince George from the Quesnel area, has "an extensive history with police" and was held in custody at least until his first court appearance scheduled for Thursday.
