Attracting more than 1,000 residents annually, the annual Civic Light Up event at the Prince George Civic Centre stirs the Christmas spirit in the hearts of all ages.

Attracting more than 1,000 residents annually, the annual Civic Light Up event at the Prince George Civic Centre stirs the Christmas spirit in the hearts of all ages.

The family event, hosted by the Prince George Civic Centre staff, will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The countdown for the light-up and arrival of Santa (with candy canes) is at 7 p.m.

The community gathering offers skating, crafts at Two Rivers Gallery and free hay rides in the plaza from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be live music, mascots and free hot chocolate in the Civic Plaza to 7 p.m.

Story times in Prince George Public Library are at 6:15 and 7:15 p.m. while inside the plaza is the Festival of Trees, a forest of fantasy and magic, where admission of $5 for adults, $10 for families and $3 for students and seniors is required at the door. Donations to the Salvation Army are appreciated.
