Prince George's new license plate technology will be scanning plates and helping officers issue tickets starting Monday.
City council already passed bylaws changing the rules around tickets, bumping first time offences up to $50 from $25 and ordering a three-hour total parking limit
The new technology will help staff clamp down on downtown drivers who would move their cars every couple hours to avoid tickets.
Over the last two weeks city staff have been training on how to use the equipment and on Thursday, the city has arranged a show and tell with media to explain the technology.
Since the end of September staff have been installing and activating the new kiosks in municipal off-street parking the city said.
