Construction of the new Delta Hotel downtown has meant a change in direction for the Prince George Public Library.

The Bob Harkins branch next door to the site has closed its parking lot entrance off 10th Avenue and is now operating out of a new permanent entry further north on Patricia Boulevard.

There will be a redirection in traffic flow, explained library communication co-ordinator Andrea Palmer.

Arrows, new parking stall lines and directional signage will be added to the space to help ease confusion, though until that happens, Palmer said library staff are asking drivers to exercise caution and to keep to current paths.

This is a welcome change for the library, which has long been looking for a way to make accessing the parking lot's book drop more convenient, according to Palmer.

"So what this new entrance/exit allows is for a real counterclockwise flow of traffic, which will actually allow people who want to use the book drop to be able to do so from their drivers' side window, which is what we've been getting feedback about for years that people have been wanting," she said.
