The Prince George Public Library is unveiling its first-ever piece of public art next month and needs more donations to help pay for the project.

For a minimum donation of $10, residents can support the library's purchase of Claire Kunjundzic's Sisters Across Borders, which will be on permanent display at the entrance to the Bob Harkins branch. Support for this project will cover the cost of the painting and its installation, making this display a true community effort.

"We've raised more than $1,100 so far but we would like more than $2,000 to pay for all the costs," said Dr. Theresa Healy who, along with Councillor Murry Krause, spearheaded the project. "Having the painting at the library is important because the library is all about sharing and being open to everyone. This work of art highlights the warm and inclusive welcome that awaits everyone who visits our local library."

The installation on March 15 will celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day, as well as the International Day for the Elimination of Racism and Discrimination.

Residents eager to take part in this project and make a donation to support the display of public art at the library can stop by the checkout desk at the Bob Harkins branch.
