The Prince George Public Library has ended their search for a new leader.

Acting chief librarian Janet Marren will take over the role on a permanent basis as of Sept. 15, the board of directors announced Thursday.

Marren has held the position on an interim basis since last September when former chief librarian Allan Wilson left to sign on as the head librarian at UNBC.

Marren, who holds a degree in library science from the University of Alberta, was chief librarian in Houston from 1995 to 2006. She joined the Prince George staff in 2006 where she has held a variety of positions including community outreach librarian, public service co-ordinator and public service manager.

"I feel privileged to accept this leadership role at the library and to serve the city of Prince George and regional district," said Marren, in a press release. "I have had a great deal of support from the board, my colleagues at the library and our partners in the community and look forward to working together to provide outstanding library services for Prince George."
