Now that the list is set, it's time for the public to learn where candidates stand prior to November's civic elections.

Today is the one-month mark from general voting day on Nov. 15 and the Prince George Public Library has teamed up with CBC Radio One to facilitate a face off between the two mayoral candidates.

Lyn Hall and Don Zurowski open the debate tonight at the Bob Harkins branch. The two will participate in a partially framed debate mediated by Daybreak North host Russell Bowers followed by questions from the gallery in the Keith Gordon room from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Seating for the free, drop-in event is first come, first served.

All city council hopefuls have a chance to get their faces and voices out on Saturday morning during an all-candidates forum at the Fire Pit.

The event ties in to the tail end of Homelessness Action Week and begins at 11 a.m. at the drop-in centre at 1120 Third Ave.

It's an important forum for candidates to attend because there are a variety of social issues in the community, said Community Partners Addressing Homelessness (CPAH) co-ordinator Kerry Pateman.

"I think with this particular one, the idea is getting the candidates into a location where some of the clients of the downtown services feel comfortable," Pateman said. This will be the third all-candidates' forum CPAH has hosted for a civic election.

Prior to the 2011 election, the group facilitated a number of focus groups in response to a homeless count.

"One of the things that came up fairly frequently was they feel like they want to be a part of the community and a part of decisions that are made in the community and they felt that perhaps city council could even be holding meetings in other locations or coming and asking them questions from time to time," Pateman said.

On Oct. 29, get up close and personal with the candidates running for the School District 57 board of trustees. The Citizen and CBC Radio will host the event at 7 p.m. at College of New Caledonia in room 1-306, with Bowers again running the show.

Advanced voting begins Nov. 5, with polls open at city hall from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Prince George Construction Association and the Canadian Home Builders' Association of Northern B.C. is teaming up for their candidates forum on Nov. 5.

Taking place at the Ramada Hotel, the evening begins at with 6 p.m. cocktails and dinner at 6:30 p.m. before getting down to the nitty gritty with the actual forum starting at 7:30 p.m.

The next night, on Nov. 6, head up the hill to UNBC to see Hall and Zurowski go head-to-head for another mayoral forum hosted by The Citizen and CKPG. Citizen columnist and UNBC political science professor Tracy Summerville will moderate.

The match begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Canfor Theatre and for those who can't make it in person, it will be broadcast on CKPG on Nov. 11.

Still don't know who to vote for? Beginning at 7 p.m. on Nov. 12, The Citizen and the Prince George Public Library are joining forces for a truly intimate and interactive experience with council candidates. Speed Candi-Dating will put voters and candidates face to face at downtown branch's Keith Gordon room for short interviews, three minutes at a time, before moving on to the next person.

Advanced voting continues on Nov. 12 at city hall from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Nov. 13 during the same hour in the Doug Little Lounge at UNBC.
