The Novak Family Legacy Wall is now a permanent fixture in the Prince George Civic Centre lobby.
Dunkley Lumber, owned by the Novak family, donated 11,000 pieces of two by four lumber used to build the wave-like wall.
The project is a fundraising initiative for the 2015 Canada Winter Games, with a goal of $250,000. If more than that is raised, the money will be put in a sport legacy fund and a legacy committee will decide how those funds are allocated. There are 3,000 1.75 inch by six inch clear acrylic plaques available for sale, which will grace the legacy wall.
"For $100, you can purchase a customizable plaque that will be installed on the Legacy Wall and remain in the Civic Centre after the 2015 Canada Winter Games, said Stuart Ballantyne, CEO, 2015 Canada Winter Games in a recent news release. "The Novak Family Legacy Wall is a unique opportunity for individuals, families, groups and organizations to leave a legacy in the community and with the 2015 Canada Winter Games and sport community."
Each plaque has enough space on it for three lines of text.
The Novak Family Legacy Wall will stand in the Prince George Civic Centre as a reminder that the 2015 Canada Winter Games would not have been possible without the contribution and support of individuals, families and businesses from across the region, said Mayor Lyn Hall. This is a great opportunity for members of our community to become a part of the legacy that will continue on long after the 2015 Games.
