Lawsuit against school district withdrawn

A Houston woman who suffered injuries when she slipped and fell in the community's high school parking lot nearly three years ago, has withdrawn her lawsuit against the Bulkley Valley school district over the incident.

The lawyer acting on behalf of Roberta Russell signed a consent order stating the proceeding against the school district, as well as Grouse Mountain Trucking Ltd. and Robert Anderson, has been dismissed without costs to any party.

The order holds the same effect as if it had been granted at the end of a trial on the matter, it further states.

In a notice filed last year, Russell had claimed poor maintenance of the parking lot was the reason she slipped and fell on Oct. 29, 2012 and suffered fractures to her left forearm and a sharp pain in her tailbone and required surgery on her left wrist.

In a response, the school district said the parking lot was in a "reasonably safe condition at the time."

The consent order was signed in early July.
