As Carolyn Kendall grew up she heard all about Native culture from her family and was fascinated by it. So, it wasn't a real surprise when her craft store morphed into a native arts store.
Kendall, owner of Kumbayaz Native Arts, had a craft store in Vanderhoof when an artist asked her to trade earrings for beads and that's how quickly it started.
"When she asked me to trade - it was like - yes!," said Kendall.
She was thrilled about the new development and encouraged others to trade with her, too. Soon she had a craft and Native arts store similar to the one she now has on the corner of Fourth and Dominion.
