A youth ran for his life Tuesday night when a stranger on the street pulled a seven-inch, hunting type knife, according to initial reports.

The incident happened on Porter Avenue just after 10 p.m. The victim, a teenaged male, was walking in the vicinity of his home.

"A Caucasian male in his 20s was also walking along the street and pulled out an edged weapon and yelled at the teenager," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass, who did not confirm the description of the weapon.

"The victim ran; the suspect chased the victim. The victim made it to his residence, and he phoned police."

The suspect was wearing a light blue vest and a black hoodie, and blue baggy pants.

"The suspect was searched for but not located, despite many patrols in the neighbourhood," said Douglass.

Anyone who knows who this aggressive male might be is asked to call police at 250-561-3300 or anonymously give some ideas to the local Crime Stoppers office at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.
