A Prince George man who pulled a knife on police when they were trying to arrest him was has been sentenced to six months in jail less time already served in custody.
In addition to the 93 days he had already spent in custody following his arrest July 6, Arby Lee Bai will serve a further 87 days behind bars and then one year probation for assaulting a peace officer, using a weapon and theft $5,000 or under.
During the early morning hours of July 6, police were called to a report of two men breaking into vehicles along Jackson Crescent.
Mathew Simon Jones was arrested at the scene, but Bai tried to flee and when police caught up to him on Campbell Avenue, he pulled out a knife that the police officer wrestled away from him, the court heard.
Bai continued to struggle and when a second officer arrived, a second knife was found in Bai's belt before he was handcuffed and taken into custody, according to RCMP.
In August, Jones was sentenced to three months in jail for possession of a break-in instrument, to concurrent terms of 30 days in jail for breach of an undertaking or recognizance and sentenced to 18 months probation on both counts.
Bai was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to the charges.
