The suspect in an alleged knife attack is now wanted by police. Mounties issued a province-wide arrest warrant for Marcel James Abou, 26, of Prince George on suspicion of wounding another local man in a dispute on the street on Tuesday evening.

It was about 8 p.m. when the report was called in of a violent altercation at the corner of 4th Avenue and Dominion Street.

"One male believed to be involved in the fight was located with a non-life-threatening stab wound. The suspect was not located," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass. "Investigators believe that during the fight, one male pulled a knife and stabbed the other. The victim gained control of the knife and threw it onto a nearby building."

The fire department brought ladders to aid the search of the surrounding rooftops for the knife. It was not found but the investigation is still underway.

Based on the information from witnesses, including the victim of the alleged assault, the suspect at large was Abou, who also has ties to the remote Tsay Keh Dene / Fort Ware areas north of Mackenzie. These latest allegations are in addition to other incidents for which he is a wanted man.

"Abou is also wanted in British Columbia for break-and-enter, mischief, obstructing a peace officer and breaching conditions, related to three previous incidents in Prince George in 2011," Douglass said.

Abou is described as being a First Nations man, 5'9" tall, 165 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
