The local branch of the SPCA is in need of homes for about 50 kittens.

The shelter is at capacity and is asking the public to come forward to adopt the baby cats.

"We've got long-haired kittens, short-haired kittens, black kittens, white kittens, brown kittens, tabbies, calicos and torties galore," said Ann Gough, North Cariboo SPCA branch manager.

The local shelter staff is reminding animal owners to spay and neuter their pets to avoid the over population problem that continues to plague the community.

Shelter hours are Tuesday to Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 4011 Landsdowne Road.
