Kindergarten could be a problem for more than just the kids

In one area of Prince George School District 57, the start of full-day kindergarten seems to be more of a problem than a positive experience.

The closing of Salmon Valley and Shady Valley elementary schools in June means students will be bused to Glenview elementary, but the gradual-entry program means the bus schedule won't work for those kindergarten students for the first two weeks, said Fiona Kitt, a kindergarten mother at Salmon Valley.

"It means a lot of 15 to 20 minute drives back and forth for just a short time to begin with," said Kitt.
