Renovations to Kin 1 are scheduled to be "substantially complete" by Dec. 5, according to a report to council from city manager Beth James.
The $16.5 million project is said to be on budget and on time, with a grand opening planned for early 2014. A precise date for user groups to begin using the facility hasn't been set as "it will take several weeks to test new building systems and mechanical components, build ice, provide staff training, commissioning, and occupancy requirements before normal operations can resume," James wrote.
Her report also provides an update on the RCMP building, which is currently having its interior work finished off. "Procurement of fixtures, furniture and equipment is in progress in preparation for installation as the building nears completion," wrote James. Police are scheduled to begin moving into their new space in mid-December.
