Updated: Firefighters battle Killoren Crescent apartment building blaze

The building was evacuated early in the morning; smoke was visible across the city

Boardwalk Apartments on Killoren Crescent in the Heritage area of Prince George was on fire at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, May 22.

Prince George Fire Rescue crews were fully engaged in battling the fire with ambulances on scene.

Residents of the building were evacuated.

The building, which has 57 apartments, is located near D.P. Todd Secondary School.

Smoke from the fire could be seen from kilometres away.

People affected by the fire were allowed to take shelter options from the city of Prince George. There is no word on the cause of the fire.

Later Thursday, The Citizen was told that fire crews would stay on-site overnight to watch for flareups.
