It was all about inclusivity as one family made sure to attend both the Pride Parade as well as the BMO KidzArt Dayz Saturday in downtown Prince George.
“It’s important to attend community events and show support for all the people in the community,” said Leanne Laverdure, who came with husband Ben and children Mya, 1, and Evan, 4. “I think it’s important to bring our kids because we’d like to show them that we support everybody.”
Leanne really liked that there was a recycling information booth at KidzArt Dayz because she’s particularly interested in the subject.
“I talked to them for a long time because that’s a personal venture of mine,” she said.
On Saturday night, Leanne attended the Drag Show put on by the Prince George Pride Society, while dedicated dad, Ben, stayed home to watch the kids.
“It’s a really fun girls night out,” Leanne laughed.
The BMO KidzArt Dayz presented by the Two Rivers Gallery took place at Canada Games Plaza Friday and Saturday and saw 5,000 people attend each day, said Carolyn Holmes, managing director at the gallery.
There were several activities geared for children at the event including face painting, yoga, build a boat, pipe-cleaner fun and even a spot for launching kid-friendly rockets and an opportunity to ride the mini rail from the local Railway and Forestry Museum.
