TORONTO - Smithers native and former Prince George Cougars defenceman Dan Hamhuis has been named to the Canadian men's Olympic hockey team that will compete for gold next month at the Sochi Olympics.
Hamhuis currently plays for the Vancouver Canucks.
Also named to the roster was Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price of Anahim Lake, west of Williams Lake. Price played his junior hockey with the Tri-City Americans. Price joins Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo and Phoenix Coyotes netminder Mike Smith in goal for Canada.
Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews, Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, and Patrice Bergeron were also named to the team.
