Kettle campaign surpasses $40,000

The Salvation Army's kettle campaign is "doing very well compared to last year," the church said Monday in an update. As of the end of Saturday, $40,235.11 has been raised. As well, the Tree of Lights campaign is now at $5,559.

The Salvation Army's kettle campaign is "doing very well compared to last year," the church said Monday in an update.

As of the end of Saturday, $40,235.11 has been raised.

As well, the Tree of Lights campaign is now at $5,559.90, thanks to Saturday's Spruce Kings game and tailgate party where $829.90 was raised.

The next Tree of Lights event is a petting zoo this Sunday at Black Spruce Farms at 7550 Bendixon Rd., starting at noon.

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the front desk of the Coast Inn of the North, 770 Brunswick St., or at the event. Hot dogs and hot chocolate will be available by donation.
