A local elder and outdoor enthusiast is still missing, six months after his vehicle was found in the backcountry near the city.
Dietmar Josef Faeth, 73, was scheduled to fly out of Prince George in October for a warmer winter climate. He was last seen by friends on Oct. 15 and his flight left without him on Nov. 6.
RCMP released another plea for public help in finding the missing man this week.
"On Nov. 15, 2010, Faeth's distinctive orange Dodge camper-van was located on the Fraser Forest Service Road, northeast of the city. Faeth was not located," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass.
"The following day, an extensive search of the area was conducted by Prince George Search and Rescue with assistance from the Prince George RCMP's Police Dog Section. Again, no sign of Mr. Faeth."
The Prince George RCMP are requesting to speak to anyone who may have spoken to or seen Faeth in October or November, or seen his camper-van. Anyone with possible information is asked to contact police at 250-561-3300.
