A bike-riding thief got away with $10,000 worth of merchandise after breaking into jewelry store on the weekend.

At approximately 5:30 a.m., Prince George RCMP received a report of a glass break alarm from Michael's Jewellers located in the 1600 block of 15th Avenue.

Police attended the scene and found the front glass door smashed. RCMP reviewed the video surveillance at the scene, which recorded a male suspect arriving on his bike and throwing two interlock bricks through the bottom door window pane.

Once inside the store, the suspect gained access to a display case and grabbed the contents, which he hid in a black backpack.

The suspect is described as approximately six feet tall, medium build, wearing a black balaclava, black jacket, black track pants with white stripes down the side (Adidas style) and white running shoes.
