A man was sentenced this week to 28 days in jail for trying to break into the Salvation Army's Curt Garland Community Support Centre in August.

Asher Nathaniel Leatherdale was also issued a 30-day term for possession of a break in instrument from the same incident, and he was sentenced to 15 days in jail for possession of stolen property under $5,000 from another incident earlier the same month.

Arrested on Aug. 19, Leatherdale was released but failed to appear for a court hearing two days later. He was apprehended on Monday and, from that incident, was sentenced to 15 days in jail for obstructing a peace officer.

Leatherdale was also sentenced to one year probation and assessed $400 in victim surcharges.

Tinieshia Elaine McMillan, 20, who was arrested with Leatherdale and released, remains at large.
