It's time to lace up and walk the walk

The 30/30 challenge is the brainchild of Dr. Tina Krell, a local chiropractor who adopted the idea from a town in California.

Krell wants to encourage as many Prince George residents to walk at least 30 minutes a day for the entire month of June. With so many trails to choose from, Knell is hoping to encourage everyone to take some time out and go for a stroll.

The goal of the challenge is to get people aware that there are places to go for exercise, and if people can't afford to get a gym membership then all they have to do is lace up their running shoes and take advantage of the terrain. It's shouldn't be hard to do, it should be enjoyable and fun, said Krell.

The walking schedule is up to the residents who accept the challenge and it doesn't matter where or when people walk, as long as they commit to 30 minutes a day of exercise. Any kind of exercise counts towards the challenge.

Krell's chiropractic is offering a weekly draw for anyone that posts pictures of themselves walking around town and they are eligible for a weekly prize.

Some of the benefits of walking include reducing the risk of coronary heart disease, helping osteoarthritis and increasing flexibility and co-ordination.
