A pair of local first-time parents hold the honour of having the city's first baby of the year.
Parents Sherisse and Ryan Hansford, of Prince George, welcomed their first son - who weighed in at seven pounds, six ounces - at the University Hospital of Northern B.C.
Zachary James Hansford made his appearance at 1:13 p.m. on New Year's Day.
Little Zachary took his time in comparison to the province's first 2012 delivery. B.C.'s official New Year's baby is Isabella Marie Payne, who was born just three minutes past midnight in Vancouver at B.C. Women's Hospital.
