It sounded like gunfire

It is unknown if shots were fired, but something sounded a lot like gunshots to people in the area of Upland Street and Strathcona Avenue. Calls from several concerned citizens were made to police at about 5 a.m.

It is unknown if shots were fired, but something sounded a lot like gunshots to people in the area of Upland Street and Strathcona Avenue. Calls from several concerned citizens were made to police at about 5 a.m. on Friday reporting the suggestive bangs.

"Multiple General Duty police officers attended the area," said police spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass. "In addition to patrols of the neighbourhood, officers walked through local parks and through apartment complexes in the area. Pedestrians were questioned and inquiries were made with local residents."

No further evidence of gunshots was found.
