A series of videos produced by the city's economic development arm has been recognized with an international award.
Initiatives Prince George received a bronze Excellence in Economic Development Award for a series of eight videos released in conjunction with two online job fairs, featuring testimonials from people who moved to Prince George from around the world.
The awards were handed out by the International Economic Development Council in the category of video/multimedia promotion for communities with populations of 25,000 to 200,000. The awards recognize the world's best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials and the year's most influential leaders.
The IPG videos were produced by Splash Media Group and the online job fairs were put on with a $60,200 Employer Innovation Fund grant funded by the federal and provincial governments.
"We are incredibly honoured to be recognized at an international level for our efforts to attract new population to Prince George to help meet the need for skilled workers," said IPG CEO Heather Oland, in a press release.
According to IPG, the video series reached a potential audience of 3,071 online job fair participants and has a combined 4,859 views on IPG's YouTube channel. The videos can be viewed at www.youtube.com/InitiativesPG under the Working in the City of Prince George playlist.
"As the nation continues to tackle challenges in the midst of global uncertainty, these efforts have taken on an even greater significance," said IEDC chair Bill Sproull. "With this award, we laud trendsetting organizations like Initiatives Prince George for leading the charge."
