The RCMP in Burns Lake send out an alert about an Internet scam that involved the purchase of a car.
On Feb. 4 a caller told police they had purchased a car on ebay motors that was said to be in the Vancouver area. But the funds to purchase the car were sent to an account in England.
"Needless to say the car was never received and the funds were not returned," said Staff Sgt. Mike Kisters in Burns Lake.
"Once again police advise the public that if a deal is too good be true and you cannot verify the information, proceed with caution. Once the funds leave the province it's extremely unlikely that any legal action can be taken to recoup the funds or proceed with legal action."
