Dr. Gwynne Dyer, world-renowned international affairs expert, returns to Prince George on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. to give a talk at UNBC's Canfor Theatre about the Arab Spring and recent developments in the Middle East.

Based out of London, England, Dyer is on a North American lecture tour. As a journalist, Dyer, whose columns have been carried by media outlets around the world for decades, has completed numerous radio and television documentaries, including The Profession of Arms, which was nominated for an Academy Award for best documentary feature.

During his last appearance in Prince George, Dyer gave the 2009 Dr. Bob Ewert Memorial Lecture on how climate change will fuel future global conflicts.

Most recently, CBC Radio ran a three-part series based on Dyer's 2008 book Climate Wars.

Last year, Dyer was appointed an Officer to the Order of Canada. Dyer also released his latest book, Crawling Through The Wreckage, a collection of his newspaper columns from the last five years.

Dyer's earlier works, including War, The Mess They Made: The Middle East After Iraq, Future Tense: The Coming World Order and Ignorant Armies: Sliding Into War In Iraq, are available at the Prince George Public Library.

Tickets for this event will be available at the door for $15 each, with proceeds going towards the current renovation work at the public library.

Dyer will also give a lecture on climate change at the Nechako Community Church during a presentation of the Vanderhoof Public Library, 1393 Highway 16 East, on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. The Vanderhoof event is free and does not require pre-registration.
