Catherine Pennington of the Prince George Community Foundation and Brian Harris of Interior Savings Credit Union were on hand Friday at the Hart Highway branch of Interior Savings to announce details of the new $750,00 Spruce Credit Union Legacy Fund.

The Prince George employees of Interior Savings, formerly Spruce Credit Union, will be heading out into the community tomorrow for the company’s Day of Difference.

Interior Savings staff will be donning their new, blue Community Crew shirts as they head out to lend a helping hand at Rotary Hospice House, Harmony House Prince George and the Prince George SPCA.

It’s the first Day of Difference for Prince George but it’s the ninth Day of Difference for Interior Savings, which holds the event to celebrate International Credit Union Day. The Prince George employees will be joining their 500 colleagues in 15 B.C. communities.

It’s a day where the credit union gives thanks to its members and lends a hand to non-profits and other organizations in need – on company time. While many businesses support employee volunteerism, Interior Savings goes a step further by closing all its branches at 2 p.m. that day, to allow staff time to go out and make a big difference, together.

The day-long celebration of caring for community kicks-off with an employee breakfast all Interior Savings’ branch locations. Throughout the day, branches will welcome members with treats and gifts from local vendors before dispersing across the community in the afternoon to lend a hand wherever it’s needed.
