Prince George is among the cities where the B.C. Law Society will host a consultation session regarding the future of legal regulation in the province.
Set for Wed., Sept. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Hedrick Room at Coast Inn of the North, it is part of the work of a joint task force examining whether various legal service providers, including lawyers, notaries public and paralegals should be brought under one regulatory umbrella.
"This is about finding the most effective and efficient way to regulate legal services," said task force chair Bruce LeRose. "If a single regulator can best protect the public and improve access to justice, then we need to seriously consider that regulatory model."
