Tim McEwan is leaving his post as lead of the city's economic development branch, Initiatives Prince George.

Since February 2008, McEwan has been CEO of the arm's length corporation, which is responsible for boosting business opportunities in Prince George.

In a letter dated Jan. 30, IPG board of directors chair Glen Wonders writes McEwan's position is vacant effective Jan. 31.

According to Wonders, McEwan leaves IPG "to pursue very exciting new opportunities."

"His steadfast efforts to re-position Prince George within southern business, political and opinion leadership circles is well recognized," writes Wonders. "In addition, there are many significant investments that IPG has helped to facilitate during the last four years, with many more in the works."

Vice president Heather Oland, who joined IPG last September, assumes the role on an interim basis.

Oland has formerly worked with the City of Prince George and as the Director of Planning with L&M Engineering.
