A community information session on a proposal to build two affordable housing projects on First Avenue will be held this evening at city hall, second floor conference room, 6 p.m. start.
Subject to rezoning, an environmental and geotechnical review, and project approval, the projects are planned for 805 First Ave., the current home of NR Motors.
BC Housing is to lead the construction over two phases of a building containing 50 units of supportive housing and one holding 50 units of rental homes for low-income people. Rents will work out to 30 per cent of the tenant's gross household income.
Each building would include ground-floor healthcare space that would deliver services for both residents and the public.
The city will purchase the land for a price to be made public once the transaction is completed.
Representatives of BC Housing, Northern Health, and the City of Prince George will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. There will be a presentation at 6:30 p.m.
An information session about the proposal was previously held on September 11, 2019.
Council will also be holding a public hearing on the rezoning and proposed amendment to the official community plan. The date for the public hearing has not yet been set but is expected to occur later this winter.
