A 22-year-old Alberta man was arrested Wednesday evening for allegedly riding his snowmobile along the gravel shoulder of Highway 5 while impaired. Valemount RCMP said he was apprehended after police were called to a report of a stranded motorist. It turned out the man decided to take his snowmobile off the back of his pickup truck and ride it back to Valemount, RCMP said. When he failed a roadside screening, he was taken back to the detachment where he provided breath samples nearly two times the legal limit. Police also discovered he was also prohibited from driving anywhere in Canada at the time of his arrest. The man was released from custody with a future court date in Valemount to answer to charges of driving while impaired, driving with a blood alcohol level over .08 and driving while prohibited.
