The Independent Investigations Office is seeking key witnesses to a police-involved death last month.
Specifically, the civilian-based watchdog says it has identified the following potential witnesses to the July 18 incident shortly before 11 p.m. near the 10th Avenue Liquor Store:
- The occupants of a possibly white tractor trailer unit (tractor only) which was parked in the lot between the liquor store and the Triple O's restaurant and left shortly after 11 p.m.
- Three women in a dark-coloured vehicle similar to a PT Cruiser who were initially stopped in front of the liquor store at the time of the incident and left shortly after speaking to a lone man who had a cellphone in his hand.
- The occupants of a light-coloured sedan style vehicle which stopped on 10th between the liquor store and the office of Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris for several minutes at the time.
Dale Culver, 35, died shortly after RCMP pepper sprayed him during an arrest. Police had been called to a complaint of a man "casing" vehicles as if looking to break into them.
The IIO investigates police-involved deaths and serious injuries for evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
Witnesses are asked to contact the IIO at 1-855-446-8477.
