B.C.'s civilian-based police watchdog has cleared the Prince George RCMP of criminal wrongdoing from an incident in January.

In a statement issued this week, the Independent Investigations Office found the injuries sustained by a man and a woman during an "interaction" with police did not meet the threshold for serious harm as defined by the Police Act.

On Jan. 18, RCMP received a dropped 911 call from a home in the 3700 block of Lansdowne Road. When called back, the caller refused to provide details and hung up and further calls to the home went unanswered.

Police showed up to confirm no one was at risk and in a subsequent interaction the couple sustained minor injuries, the IIO said.

An investigation was launched on April 1 when the IIO was notified of the incident.
