Prince George will not be among the stops when federal Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff visits 20 ridings held by other parties in 11 days.
The closest he'll come is Vancouver, a party spokesman said Tuesday.
Following on Ignatieff summer tour, the Liberals now say he'll be making appearances in 20 ridings across Canada held by the Conservatives, NDP or Bloc that the party plans to win back next election.
But they'll be sticking to ridings around the major centres for this trip, which starts Thursday, because of the time constraint. "On such a quick tour, it wasn't possible this time," he said on background.
NDP leader Jack Layton plans to visit 18 communities from coast to coast by Jan. 26. He was in Prince George in November to promote Lois Boone, the party's candidate in Prince George-Peace River.
The riding has been without an MP since Oct. 25, when Conservative Jay Hill retired and his party has yet to start a formal candidate nomination process.
Parliament resumes on Jan. 31.
