A driver suffered minor injuries this morning (March 3) after a crash off Highway 97 south of Williams Lake.
According to Cpl. Mike Halskov with RCMP Traffic Services, the single-vehicle incident between 150 and 100 Mile House caused a hydro pole to trap the driver, who was the only occupant in their vehicle.
Williams Lake Mounties attended the scene before 10 a.m. and the highway re-opened around 1 p.m. this afternoon.
“It took a bit of time to ensure that the hydro lines and pole were secure before attempting to safely extricate the driver,” explains Halskov in an email to PrinceGeorgeMatters.
Halskov believes road conditions may have been a factor as conditions between Williams Lake and 100 Mile House are in winter driving mode.
While Drive BC currently has no travel advisories for the region, the service says there are slippery sections and that drivers should adjust their habits accordingly.
Commuters are also being reminded to watch for snow plows and sanding trucks making their way along Highway 97.
