The Stone Creek to Williams Road highway construction project, which joins two Cariboo Connector four-lane projects, will be completed this fall, according to the Ministry of Transportation website.

The project, which started in August of 2015, upgrades three kilometres of Highway 97 from two to four lanes and the end result will see a 11.5 km stretch of four-lane highway.

The original highway remains while the two additional lanes are constructed below it, along the Fraser River bank.

The remaining stretch of highway sees the installation of 800 metres of retaining wall, upgrades to drainage and structure and riprap protection.

Increasing safety to motorists, the project replaces the CN Rail overhead crossing and straightens the curve near that underpass.
