The human remains found in a wooded area alongside Foothills Boulevard are not those of Natasha Montgomery, but the discovery of this mystery body has already helped the Montgomery case.

According to police, tips have been called in providing new information as to where Montgomery's body may be located. She is presumed to be the victim of accused serial killer suspect Cody Alan Legebokoff. He has been charged in her death despite there being no confirmed sighting of her since she disappeared in late August, 2010.

"Both previous and recently updated tips that have come in about Natasha Montgomery," said police spokeswoman Const. Lesley Smith. "The finding of these remains has impacted the Natasha Montgomery file immensely, and I have to remind the public that they play a huge role in that investigation. If something may have been observed back then at the time of her disappearance, or if you have some knowledge, or things you have reflected on over time, now is the time to come forward. We have searches planned for certain areas in particular when the snow fully recedes."

It was not disclosed who the deceased person was found alongside Foothills on Wednesday afternoon. RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass confirmed only that it was an adult male and the man's next of kin was being notified.

"We do know the identity but we are keeping that to ourselves until after the autopsy which is underway [Thursday]," Douglass said. "Until the autopsy is concluded - that is our confirmation process - we can't speculate as to foul play. The Prince George RCMP and North District Major Crime also would like to once again ask that anyone venturing outdoors be extra vigilant in their observations and report anything suspicious."

Smith added that "We do have a number of outstanding investigations where the location of an individual is unknown, so we are asking the public to be mindful of anything suspicious or anything curious. The public is our eyes and ears, so when you are out and about walking or hiking, or if you are reflecting on something in your mind, consider those families who are in need of closure."

Take careful note of the location of anything suspicious, including GPS coordinates if possible, and call it in to authorities as soon as possible.
