Local builders started work on 18 single-family homes last month, according to Canada Mortgage and House Corp. numbers.
That was one less than the total for the same month last year but the year-to-date total stood at 47, up from 27 by the same point in 2011.
There were also starts on 29 multiple-family housing units, raising the year-to-date total to 38, compared to 36 by the same point last year.
The B.C. Real Estate Association is predicting a year-end total of 120 single family home starts and 90 multiple family unit starts.
