Cooking on a stove top was the cause of a Friday evening house fire.
Multiple Prince George Fire Rescue crews responded to the 1400 block of Blackburn Road North Friday evening after flames engulfed the residence.
On arrival, shortly after 5:30 p.m., crews found heavy, thick black smoke coming from the eaves of the structure. Flames were also starting to rise above the roof line at the rear of the house.

An occupant said he had been sleeping inside and awoke to the structure already ablaze. No injuries were reported and crews were on the scene for two-and-a-half hours looking for hot spots and fire extension.
Damage is estimated at $300,000.
