The Prince George Public Library is anticipating a boon for their renovation project from the highly-anticipated Hot Blooded Ball.

The fundraiser on Oct. 28 will see proceeds go to improvements to the Bob Harkins branch's adult floor.

True Blood television series stars Jim Parrack (Hoyt) and Kristin Bauer (Pam) will be the special guests at the ball.

Work at the library is already underway, including new shelving and adult information desk at the top of the stairs. The biggest change will be SkyLab, an elevated mezzanine over the second floor that will add almost 1,000 square feet of new space to the existing branch of the library.

This new space will provide more computer and Internet access, with a new computer instruction lab, helping the library become the information centre for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

"We're excited about improving ourselves so we're ready to welcome the country, literal and virtual, but our main focus is being more accessible and offering more services for everyone across the region," said chief librarian Allan Wilson.

"Our library board trustees are pursuing sponsors and business support for both the Hot Blooded Ball and SkyLab."

SkyLab is just one of a series of improvement projects planned for the library. Other projects in the works, as outlined in the library's five-year strategic plan, include developing the Knowledge Garden, renovating the Nechako branch, adding a branch in College Heights, upgrading the service desk on the main floor of the Bob Harkins branch, and improving the main entrance to Bob Harkins to make it more accessible and welcoming for seniors.

Proceeds from the library's Hot Blooded Ball event on Friday, Oct. 28 at the Ramada Hotel offset some of the costs of the renovation.

Tickets are $80 per person.

Each ticket holder will receive a $35 tax-deductible receipt for their donation to the library's renovation project. Tickets are available by credit card online at the library's brand-new website through PayPal at www.lib.pg.bc.ca or by calling 250-563-9251 or 250-962-9710.
