The first early-bird prize has been handed out in the Hospice Society's Dream Home Lottery, but the society is also counting itself as a winner.
Brad Johnston (ticket number 1627) was drawn as the recipient of a 2014 Polaris sportsman 570 EFI and and Polaris ATV trailer from Cycle North Power Sports. The prize, valued at more than $9,600 is the first of four early-bird draws for the organization's annual fundraiser.
The fact that the prize worth the most was drawn first was no coincidence. According to the Hospice Society, it was intended to help sell more tickets more quickly for the Creekside dream home grand prize.
In the 39 days before the first draw, the society was more than 30 per cent of their way to selling their goal of 8,999 tickets, which was more than 68 per cent more sold than in previous years at that time.
"Let's hit 4,500 tickets by the end of September, 6,000 by the end of October and let's help Hospice totally sell out by the end of November," said Cycle North owner Dustin Lloyd, in a press release. "Prince George is such a generous community. I know we can do it."
This year's dream home, located at 7648 Stillwater Cres., is valued at $480,000. Visit the 2,754-square foot home between the hours of 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily to view and purchase the $100 tickets.
The next early-bird draw is Oct. 3 for a pair of hybrid bikes and helmets from Koops Bike Shop and a one-week stay at Bear Mountain Lodge in Mount Washington from Escape Solution.
Tickets can also be purchased online at hospicedreamhome.ca or by calling 1-866-419-7604. The draw for the house will take place on Jan. 15, 2015.
