Having made a commitment to reforestation in partnership with the BC Ministry of Forests and Range to plant a minimum of 150,000 trees over the next three years, Pacific Western Brewing (PWB) will be hosting Hopfest 2011 on June 18 at The CN Centre to celebrate the planting of the 100,000th tree.
The first 50,000 trees cover 40 hectares of land in the Cariboo region; creating 99 acres of healthy new forest. The subsequent planting in the next two years will build on that effort.
One of the biggest hip hop acts of the '90's, House of Pain, whose hit Jump Around made it to the No. 3 spot in the USA charts will be on stage making the crowd jump. Evil Ebenezer and Moka Only will also be onstage at Hopfest.
PWB donates the proceeds from Cariboo Genuine Draft, Honey Lager and Cream Ale to reforestation projects, and last year the company formed a partnership with local water stewardship groups to create the BC Waters Clean-Up Challenge, which it supports with a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Pacific Pilsner.
In February, the Pacific Western Brewery announced it would pour $1 million into its Prince George Headquarters.
The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are available at Ticketmaster for $37.75 or $47.75 plus fees.
