The vehicle used to smash into a security car then flee the neighbourhood it was stolen from has been recovered by police.
The incident happened at almost 2 a.m. Friday when a resident in the 5900 block of Brock Drive woke to sounds of someone breaking into his vehicle outside and driving off.
"At approximately the same time, police received a call from a private security guard stating the vehicle he was in had just been hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Domano Boulevard and Malaspina Avenue," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass. "The vehicle fit the description of the [one just stolen]. There also appeared to be a second vehicle accompanying the [stolen one] possibly driven by an accomplice."
Nobody was injured, but damage was done to both vehicles involved in the collision. The suspect car sped off without stopping.
On Saturday, a vehicle with a broken window parked in the 7200 block of Domano Boulevard caught the eye of the owner of the stolen car. Police are now confirming that it was indeed the stolen car used in the hit-and-run.
Adding to the mystery, a key was found in the ignition of the abandoned stolen car but the owner did not know of a key being missing. Police are adding up the clues, including this one.
