Police had one man in custody after a hit-and-run crash which sent an SUV spinning into a parked car Tuesday afternoon
Heather Palfenier said she was driving south on Pine Street, on her way to pick up her son, when her black Nissan Xterra SUV was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Diefenbaker Avenue.
"I honestly didn't see anything. I didn't even see anything coming," Palfenier said. "I'm just shaking."
Palfenier said she didn't see the vehicle which hit her. She lost control and her SUV crashed into a parked white Pontiac Grand Prix and flipped onto its side.
Palfenier was treated by an ambulance on the scene, but was released with only minor injuries.
Police on the scene confirmed the crash was a hit-and-run.
RCMP tracked down a suspect a short distance away on Norwood Street near the intersection with Strathcona Avenue. A blue Dodge Neon with its front bumper falling off and fender damaged was parked on the side of the street and one man was in custody.
Krista Melnick, who owns the Grand Prix which was hit, said everything happened very fast.
"We were inside and we just heard a big bang," Melnik said.
No further information about the suspect, or any possible charges, was available as of press time.
